Welcome to the English Program at UNA! Our English curriculum is designed to give our students the skills they need to travel to English
speaking countries, do research in English, and use English to find jobs after graduating. We have more than 7 levels of English classes
for students, a faculty and staff English program, a fully equipped English language lab and library, and an English club, open to
all students.

UNA Students Curriculum Since 2009, all student classes of the English Program have been taught in English only, by fluent English speakers. Studies show that immersion into a language is the best way to learn. Instead of a focus on writing and grammar only, our students learn equally the four faculties of language: reading, writing, speaking, and listening, so that they can really use their English to improve their abilities to communicate internationally and contribute to the development of Honduras. Currículo de las Clases estudiantiles Desde 2009, todas las clases del Programa de Inglés son impartidas mayormente en inglés por anglohablantes. Investigaciones han probado que la mejor manera de aprender un segundo idioma es la inmersión en éste. En lugar de enfocarse solamente en gramática y escritura, de igual forma desarrollamos las cuatro habilidades lingüísticas: escribir, leer, hablar, y escuchar, para que los estudiantes puedan mejorar sus habilidades con el fin de comunicarse internacionalmente y contribuir al desarrollo de Honduras.

International opportunities
for students During their time at the university, students will have the opportunity to use their English in many different ways. Besides the ability to access information in English for their classes and theses, many students take a short study trip to the U.S., some students can study abroad in the U.S. through programs like UGRAD and SUSI, or do their thesis research in English speaking countries. These experiences open doors for students in the future to get postgraduate degrees and better job opportunities. Oportunidades internacionales Durante su estadía en la Universidad, Durante su estadía en la Universidad, los estudiantes tienen oportunidades para utilizar sus habilidades de inglés de diferentes maneras. Aparte del acceso a la investigación para sus clases y sus tesis, muchos estudiantes realizan una gira a los EEUU, algunos pueden estudiar en el extranjero con programas como UGRAD and SUSI, o hacen la investigación de la tesis en países anglohablantes. Estas experiencias abren puertas para futuras oportunidades de estudio y trabajo.

Faculty and Staff
Classes In 2010 we started a new English program for faculty and staff at UNA. We realized that with improved English skills, faculty
can access the vast amount of scientific information available in English in the world and therefore improve the quality of their
classes. Also, many faculty members hope to continue their postgraduate studies in international programs taught in English. The staff
at UNA also enjoys English classes so they can communicate with many of the international visitors that come to the university. Clases
para docentes y personal administrativo En el 2010 iniciamos un programa de clases de inglés para los docentes y personal administrativo de la Universidad. Nos damos cuenta que con el aprendizaje de inglés, los docentes pueden acceder a la extensa información científica en todo el mundo, y, con esa información, mejorar la calidad de sus clases. También, muchos docentes esperan continuar sus estudios en programas de posgrado internacionales en inglés. El personal administrativo también disfruta las clases como un modo de comunicarse con los visitantes internacionales que vienen a la Universidad. |

English Language Laboratory and Library Also in 2010, we celebrated
the grand opening of the English Language Laboratory and Library. The computers in the laboratory have interactive English language
learning software, donated by the U.S. Embassy, called “Tell Me More.” Students and professors can also come to the lab to practice
singing karaoke in English, look up videos in English on YouTube, use the interactive disks that come with their textbooks, or search
for English related websites. The lab is also a library, with dictionaries, magazines, and books of all different levels that can
be checked out. There is always an English teacher on duty in the lab that can help you with English and the use of the laboratory. El
laboratorio de inglés También en el 2010 celebramos la apertura del laboratorio y biblioteca de inglés. Las computadoras en el laboratorio tienen un programa interactivo para el aprendizaje de inglés que se llama "Tell Me More", el cual fue donado por la Embajada Estadounidense. Estudiantes, docentes, y el personal administrativo pueden además utilizar las maquinas para cantar karaoke, ver videos por youtube, usar los discos interactivos que acompañan los libros de inglés y buscar paginas de web relacionadas con el inglés. El laboratorio sirve como biblioteca y también cuenta con diccionarios, revistas, y libros de varios niveles en inglés que uno puede pedir prestado. Siempre hay un(a) docente de inglés encargado del laboratorio que le puede ayudar con el inglés, el uso del laboratorio y la biblioteca. |

Club The English Club was started by a group of students in 2009 that were so excited about learning English that they wanted to practice
English outside of class. The first activity was a movie night, and since then the club has held many successful activities such as
karaoke night, art night, game night, trivia night, making s’mores by the fire, and hiking up to the cross in Catacamas. In November
2010, The English Club celebrated Thanksgiving with a big traditional feast and many students and professors expressed what they were
